Convention Program

A very affordable way to contact your fellow florists is through an ad in the convention program. The rates are the same as in the years past. We heard many positive responses from florists who advertised in the past. It is a great ay to network with you fellow florists.

KSFA Design Contests at Convention!

Design #1-Centerpiece for our Saturday night banquet.  Our theme is "Smoking Gun".  Sounds like a western to me. Now, who do we know from Dodge City?  Your design dimensions should be no larger than 16 inches wide and deep. The height no taller than 48 inches.  Remember it goes on a round table for eight.  Your design should be movable in one piece.  The price is retail $80.00 or less, and that includes all fresh flowers, props, container, and labor.  Design registration is from 2:00-4:00 on Saturday.  Judging will start at 4:00.  Designs will be on display  Sunday.  Winners will be announced Sunday with other contest winners.

Design #2-Your bride would like to have something different in a centerpiece for her guest tables.  As she has several tables, she would like to keep the cost down.  Design this new and different arrangement that she can't refuse.  The price is retail $35.00, including container and labor.  Design registration is 8:00-9:00 Sunday.

Design #3-If you were asked by one of the wire services to design a new arrangement for their Selection Guide or website, what would you do?  Consider yourself asked.  You have been assigned the everyday arrangement page.  This is the page that the arrangement will be picked by most people, suitable for all occasions, like-Thinking of You; Have a Nice Day; Get Well Soon; Love and Kisses; etc.  This is your chance, not only to design a new arrangement, but maybe also a new container.  Good Luck!  You have a retail price of $49.00 for this design.  Design registration is 8:00-9:00 Sunday.

All designs must have a price list included.

Hotel Reservations Must Be Made by July  12th.

The Wichita Marriott has reserved a block of rooms for the convention. The rooms will be released on July 12th. Make you reservations today if you think you will be going. You can always cancel the room on Saturday, July 28th if you are not going to make it. The room rates are $89.00 a night. Remember to mention the KSFA when making your reservations.

Avoid the Flower Police-Wear Flowers

We sell flowers in our shops; we comment that flowers are not worn like they used to be for special holidays. When was the last time you wore a flower?
We need to be promoting our products a little more. This year at the state convention you will need to be wearing a flower at all times or you will be fined $1.00 by the flower police. You can be fined for each day.
We will have a corsage bar set up so you can strut your stuffť. Make something off the wall and promote our product.

Silent Auction

Last year we held a silent auction to help offset the expenses of the convention. This was very well received and it was decided to do it again this year. The bidding will start at 6:00 on Saturday night and the winners will be announced at the 12:45 luncheon on Sunday.

Children's Program

This year make the state convention a family affair.  Something new that we are trying are
Kid Activities.  We will have fun with games and activities after the cookout on Friday evening and a mini design event on Saturday morning.  so whether your child is crafty or active, we will have something for him/her to do.  When the KFSA kid events are done, your spouse and children will have the rest of the day on their own, doing all the fun stuff Wichita has to offer while you enjoy the show.  We hope to make your weekend more family friendly because we know how important weekends are for family time.  If you have questions feel free to call Bruce Austin, at Flowers by Irene , Dodge City.  He will be in charge of this program.  620-227-2451

EDGE-UCATION

Explore the "edges" in marketing!  Saturday afternoon from 1:00-3:00 Peggy & Wayne DeBey, The Flower Nook, Salina, will present a program on rose based edible foods and rose based aromatherapy products that Peggy has developed for the store. (Recipes included!)
Join in and get ready to share this program with your customers.
Peggy envisions this group will form a year long network to share marketing ideas, successes and failures!  Limited to 20, you need to be committed to contributing, email access a must!  $25.00 per person includes food and aromatherapy products.
